POWDAH!

The snow is back! Check out these pictures from Vail yesterday (courtesy of Vail's FB).

The snow sculptures were also this past weekend, which is one of my favorite winter events in Breck. I was a bit worried for the sculptors since it was really warm this past weekend, and unfortunately one crumpled to the ground... But most of them turned out great. Here are several of my favorites. You can check out this website if you'd like descriptions on the sculptures!

A Visit From The Ice Age

Hello 2013 Spring Semester! Spring sounds pretty hysterical to say considering the temperatures the past few weeks... This morning the weather said Breckenridge was -18 but felt like -37.

NEGATIVE THIRTY SEVEN!

Well crap, who cares about the -18 when it feels like -37?! BRRRR!!!!

Yes, this is a real picture of my patio door this morning...

Ullr Fest was this past weekend, which happened to also be the 50th anniversary Ullr Fest. I'm beginning to think we sent the wrong message since we're getting insanely cold temps instead of snow. Nonetheless, it went off without a hitch, with "Ullympic" competitions, awesome floats in the parade, a great town bomb fire, and impressive fireworks. (Following commentary courtesy of GoBreck.com)

The 50th anniversary Ullr Fest parade began with a successful world record-breaking shot ski attempt. Participants lined up to take a drink from an over 250-foot shot ski, which included 153 shots from the Breckenridge Distillery. Photo by Carl Scofield

Grand Lodge on Peak Seven won first prize ($1,000 cash) with its Bronco-themed float. The GL7 crew is no stranger to first prize — Grand Lodge has taken home awards in many previous parades. Me and Dustin are standing on the other side of that tree in the back right, kind of bummed we just missed being in this picture! Photo by Carl Scofield.

A return to tradition of Ullrs past, the bonfire moved back to town for the 2012 festival. This year, fireworks followed to celebrate the event’s 50th anniversary. Photo by Carl Scofield

It's a good thing I don't live in Los Angeles... Seems like things are even colder there! HAHA!
